Hello, everyone! It has been a long time, hasn’t it? A lot has changed in the world in a short time, and it has affected numerous aspects of our daily lives (the drop in my posting frequency among them). In a small lull I have in my day-to-day schedule I thought I’d make a post to check in with the community on ZungJungMahjong.com.

First off, I hope everyone is safe.

This COVID-19 pandemic has become a daily feature of most people’s daily lives, and caused so much pain in so many ways. It doesn’t have much to do with mahjong, but I would be remiss if I went on making posts as though nothing is happening. I want to say that I hope everyone is well. And for those whom this pandemic has touched in tragic ways, I offer my condolences and my wish that we can come together to end this with the least suffering and loss of life.

Where have I been?

So, in my day-to-day life, I’m actually a physician. I’m in my residency (training period after graduating medical school). I’ve been in the hospital working on the frontlines treating COVID-19 patients alongside all of the people who normally come to the hospital. So, you can imagine that has cut a bit into my free time.

However, I have been checking in on the website and still seeing visits to the site from all over the world (Malaysia, Singapore and Croatia I think are some of the recent unique ones I’ve seen). I like to imagine that my little site is helping people who are separated from others find something new to explore or possibly share over the internet. Maybe it’s giving people something to look forward to when we are able to come back together. I like to think so.

While I don’t expect to be able to make any substantive updates in the near future, do know I’m keeping an eye on the site and if anyone has comments about anything any everything, do post something down below and around the site.

Be well, everyone.

  1. I usually don’t comment online, but I just wanted to say thanks for working the frontlines during this pandemic as well as for creating this site. I hope you are staying safe and motivated 🙂
This site has definitely helped me find something to connect with others.
I started mahjong only a few weeks ago (riichi) but wanted something my family could pick up without using complex equations for scoring. We haven’t had a chance to play yet, but we’re all looking forward to it.
    Thanks again!

    • Well, thanks for that! I appreciate it and you’re welcome. I’m always glad to see that people are finding their way to the site and finding something that they like and that is useful to them. Hope you and your family have a great time playing. Let us know how it goes!

Stay safe out there (hand washing, mask wearing (over the mouth and nose), social distancing – it works!)!

      -ZJMJ
